What I read last week!
I started out last week re-reading The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy which is such a life-changing book and I recommend it to absolutely everyone. The book discusses the power and inner workings of your mind and gives you techniques on how to reprogram your beliefs to improve relationships, health, finances, and overall happiness.
I read $100M Offers by Alex Hormozi which detailed how he went from losing money to making $36 for ever $1 spent (36x or 3600% return on profits). In the book, he outlines how to charge more than you currently are, how to make your product so good, that your clients find a way to pay for it, and how to enhance your offer so much, that prospects buy it without hesitating.
My English teacher from senior year said that one of his favorite authors is Eric Jerome Dickey, so I decided to give Genevieve a try. This book was a pretty dark and almost frustrating romance about a couple who goes through turmoil and old secrets come out. CAUTION: this book is QUITE (scratch that very) spicy and dark and also may contain some triggers now that I think about it. So proceed with that in mind. But honestly this book was interesting to read because it was the first romance I ever read by a man and I think my first romance written by a black author (don’t hold me to that one, I am not 100% sure). I think the “written by a man” perspective definitely gave the book a completely different feel from most of the romance novels I have read. I think there was a lot of psychology involved and overall, I really enjoyed this book and was quite saddened at the end as I find myself with most romance novels lol.
What I am currently reading for this week!
Magnolia Parks is yet another romance. I am really enjoying this one actually and I love that Magnolia is a black girl who is a very affluent socialite from England because there aren’t too many romance novels where the lead is not only black but affluent as well. It is also a very fun novel that is a breeze to read. Highly recommend. Although I do anticipate tears coming as everyone on BookTok said they sobbed at the end…
I am still reading Meditations and Le Petit Prince. I usually read Le Petit Prince when I am studying French so its taking me longer than if I were to just read it in one sitting. I love that I am able to gain new vocabulary and I am understanding a lot of the book. The course “French with Alexa” is great and shout out to my French tutor Fanta!
Books that I have my eye on/are on queue for the next read!
Good to Great is still on queue recommended by, Emma Grede, co-founder & CEO of Good American and Founding Partner of Skims!
Zero to One, by Peter Thiel (founder of PayPal and first outside investor into Facebook) and Blake Masters.
SO SO SO excited to read these and review/recommend them for you all!
