What I read last week!
Wow, wow, wow. This book reminded me what a joy it is to read a thought-provoking text that makes me think.
What I wrote in the newsletter last week - “She explores the intersection between gender, race, and class and the struggle for social justice. Davis explores the historical and systemic oppression faced by Black women and women of color and highlights the contributions of marginalized women in the fight for abolition, suffrage, and civil rights. Through a critical lens, the book offers a nuanced understanding of how racism, sexism, and economic exploitation are interconnected and continue to shape society.”
I absolutely loved this book and have been telling everyone I know that they need to read it. It’s refreshing to engage with a well supported and evidence based argument. What’s even more impactful is how this book has shaped the way I see myself as a Black businesswoman in society. Add this one to your carts everyone and share your thoughts with me!
What I am currently reading for this week!
The Davenports by Krystal Marquis is my next read. In comes in the mail tomorrow and I am beyond excited. It is a historical fiction novel that explores the wealthy and influential Davenport family as they navigate love, ambition, and societal expectations. The story explores the themes of race, privilege, and gender roles.

This week’s recommendation newsletter is a bit shorter because I’ve had less time to read while wrapping up the semester with my final exams and papers. However, I’m looking forward to having more time to read during the break and taking the opportunity to recharge for the new year. My goal for next year is to read a book a week, which means even more recommendations for all of you! On a logistical note, I’ve heard that some of you aren’t receiving my emails, so I’m planning to move the newsletter to a new platform in the new year. Just a quick update I wanted to share, thank you all for your engagement and sweet feedback!
I am also considering hosting a monthly Zoom session where we can engage in discussions and read the books together as a community. Looking ahead to the new year, I’m also hoping to launch an initiative where we can donate books to girls who are at-risk youth. My goal is to help foster literacy among young women and provide them with the tools they need to become independent and empowered individuals. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to reply to this email and let me know what you think!

I hope this email finds you well and filled with excitement about adding new books to your shelves! I am thrilled to kick off this newsletter and to share my passion for great reads with you! I am so excited to explore new titles together every single Sunday. Reading has been so essential to my learning process, especially down my entrepreneurial journey! Expect a wide array of genres ranging from finance and business, to self-help and spirituality, to romance, and perhaps even some fantasy thrown in for a wild escape!
But wait, there’s so much more! We’re not just stopping at books. From learning languages (j’apprends le français), to mastering pilates (Natural Pilates is hands down the best in LA, if you need a rec), to launching a business (all while being an entrepreneurship student at LMU) I’ve got a little bit of everything for you. If you’re interested in following along, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more exciting content! Let me know what you want to see by hitting reply and sharing your thoughts. Thank you for subscribing to this newsletter, your support means the universe to me. I look forward to building my personal brand with you, publicly.
Here’s to building our personal brands and chasing dreams, one page at a time.
